How is the teacher.

The teacher is pessimistic abaut what wil heppening in the world because she thinks that the III world war is begenning.
She thinks that the atack in NY starts the war and his life isn´t safe.
When she analyses the global situation she´s very pessimistic abaut the future, however she´s a teacher and her intention is to change the lifes of the kids with an education.
She´s trying to change the world arround them, giving the kids another vision of the world, she´s trying to show them that the life is more than the local life, and the world is more than their city.

Adoption`s importances

Adoption is a proof of love to the human kind because you are helping a child who has none to take care of him/her and , giving oportunities to this child becoming ``someone``in his life.Weneedto think more inthe other people and help,if possible.Isn`t just your lifemeans to you, if you help someone you are helping youself too.

Abaut the kids in Afeganistan

The afeganistian kids thinkthat God is so good to takean airplane and trhow it in a building but they think taht God has the powerto destroy lives and create again. Theier view abaut the happenings in the world is because God wants they happen.these kids just think in hapeninigs araund they because they do not know the others hapeninigs.

Behind the Scene

I felt myself very glad when I had the opportunity to watch two different views of 11th September, last week at UEC.

Why am I saying that? Because we are used to receive information only from western world. In other words, manipulated informations. To be more precise, from US Government.

Recently, two global events happened almost at the same time. A hurricane destroyed a city in USA and, on the other side of the world, a tragedy killed thousands of Iraquian people.

Which differences are there between these two facts? Which one was worse? Why is "Katrina" constantly on the TV and in the midia? Which one deserves more our attention? Which country deserves more care?

What I want to say is: Are we giving the right measure to what happens in the world? Are we aware of the power of the midia that blindly, serves the USA interest?

11th September was nothing if we compare to the invasion of Iraq. However, I believe that experience like we had last lesson with Leo is very important because we can see, analyze and make our own judgment about what happens in the world.

Miracles Can Really Happen?

I believe that both movies are optimistic because they both show us that we can’t change what happened on September 11th, but we can learn and change our lives from this fact. The World Trade Center attack can’t be deleted from our memories but it made all the world stop and think how fragile we are, and how our lives can be over in a second.
We are always expecting miracles in our lives but the teacher in the first movie was doing hard to be in a miracle, showing all those kids to respect each other even they were in a violent environment.
In the second movie, the deaf-mude woman where also expecting a miracle, but she preferred to run without fighting. She was so blind that she couldn’t see a way to go through her relationship. She was giving up of her love because she was so frightened of being rejected. This fear made her blind for all the changing in the world. She was being so self-centered and jealous that couldn’t think about any possibility of getting her love back. Maybe the relationship didn’t get over but what really matters is the chance she had to start over seeing the world around her.
Sometimes we are so concentrated in our-selves that we can’t see what’s happening outside. It seems easier to wait things change and get better, but we are supposed to do our part and that will be our miracle.

About the kids in afeganistan

Kids in afeganistan see god as the basis of their world. They think that everything that happened around the world is in god hands, and they don´t matter if people died or if a war is coming, they believe that god knows what he is doing and everyrhing that God desire must happen even that is a bad thing. That aspect makes them look only for local events and forget that there are global events what they can interfere.

Is anybody making movies we'll actually watch in 50 years?

I think it was one of the most interesting and analytical articles I've read about the things that help a movie or a movie star to survive the test of time.
The analyses concentrates on the new generation of actors and actresses to show, in a ruthless way, if they could or could not stand in the people's memory.
The author has an inteligent style of saying the most offensive things in a funny way.
I agreed with all was said about Julia Roberts and Tom Cruise and I had a good time reading the article.
I still don't know what makes a movie or a movie star last but I don't think there are many things in this world built to stand the test of time in a era when people are more preoccupied in living the moment like it was the last one in their lives.

First Writing Class

I'm really glad to participate of this writing and reading class. I'm sure it will help me learn more and more about how to be a good reader and writer in any language.
I stood many years making very few contact with english, just waching cable tv and making some travels, so last semester I decided to start over with post graduation I, and now It will be a challenge to continue my improvement because I know I have to develop my reading skils a lot, and as techer Leo said, the more we read the better we will write.
I have to confess that I've been very lazy recently so I have a long way to proceed and get back the habit of reading as thought I have to learn many technics of a good writing.
I'm sure I will have fun and learn a lot!

First Impressions

I have to confess! I hate being awake at 6 a. m. because I'm not an early person but I think it's worth it just to study English. I really have fun doing that and today it was a good surprise to meet my teacher and colleagues.

Our first class was very interesting and the teacher brought some aspects of the writing that haven't occurred me yet.

I haven't been writing a lot in English. In fact we don't have many oportunities to do so in Brazil. Just the usual business stuff when I buy things in other countries, for instance.

Of course I think it's a great challenge to conect ideas in order to build a story or an essay especially when it's required to be in a foreign language.

Anyway I'm willing to try and I hope I'll succeed.

Welcome to our new semester!

Hope you have a lot of fun and learn a lot!
